In What Country Was the President Born?
Barack Obama was elected to the highest position that can be held in our nation which is the presidency. This was a historic vote due to the fact that he is an African American. And though this fact should be celebrated, there are some who feel that he should not be the president. This is due to the fact that they feel he is not a citizen of the United States. And though it is not true, there are many reasons that his opponents feels this way.
The first reason is that president Obama's father was not born in this country. His father was born in the country of Kenya, which makes him a citizen of Kenya and not the United States. But his mother was born in the state of Hawaii which makes her a citizen of the country. People asked for the Obama birth certificate to be made public in order to determine the country of his birth. If he was born in any other country, then he would not be a citizen and could not be president of the United States of America.
People felt that the fact that his father was born in the country of Kenya meant that there was a chance that he was born in that country as well. This would have made the call for his impeachment appropriate. So the public requested that the Obama birth certificate be made pub for all those who doubted him to view. But there was no answer from the people who ran his campaign or the president himself about this issue.
Then, out of the blue, the Obama birth certificate was sent to the media. The document was a real, legal document that showed the country of his birth. On this document it states that the president of the United States of America was in fact born in this country. This makes him a citizen of the United States and also makes him eligible to remain in the office of the presidency. He, as well as members of his staff, felt that this would quiet the people that were asking for him to make the document public.
But this did not have the effect that he wanted. There were some people who felt as though the timing of the Obama birth certificate was very suspicious. They then believed the document to be a fake due to the fact that he waited so long to send the birth certificate to media. But this is not the case. Though the president and those who work with him did not share the reason that they waited so long to share this document, it is in fact real. This means that the president cannot be impeached because he is a citizen and can continue to be the president.
