SIMILARITIES IN THE QUR’AAN AND IN THE BIBLE

SIMILARITIES IN THE QUR AAN AND IN THE BIBLE

Written by Ibrahim Poncardas Romas

Leaflet # 22

I want to inform my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, that I am not talking the identicality of the Bible and Qur aan: The similarities translation is what I m talking of. I agree 100% that the Arabic Qur aan if it  is translated its essence such as tajweed, and its linguistic meaning will desappear.

 1) ]WORSHIPPING ONE GOD -ALLAAH

Say: He is Allaah the One and Only Qur aan (Al-Ikhlaas) 112:1.

Moses (pbuh) said, ( in the Bible, Deu 6:4 NIV) Hear, O Israel : The LORD our God, the LORD is one.

Jesus Christ (pbuh) said, (in the Bible, Mark 12:29 NIV) Hear, O Israel , the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

The first and foremost commandment of God in the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim s scripture is to worship God alone the Creator.  But it is a disaster today  that countless human beings armed with their human philosophies have been worshipping creation instead of the Sole Creator of the Universe.  There are so-called wise people corrupting and indoctrinating the  minds of individuals considering  2, 3,  or thousands, and even millions of deities to be one with God.

2) PLURALITY OF WIVES

“… marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if ye fear that ye cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or (the captives) that your right hands possess. Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice. Qur aan (An-Nisaa) 4:3.

Look at the Holy Bible of the Jews and the Christians! Moses (Exodus 18:1-2 & Numbers 12:1),  King David (1 Samuel 25:44 & 2Samuel 3:5); King Solomon, the most powerful and wise King that ever lived on earth, got 700 wives and 300 concubines (1Kings 11:3). If marrying more than one is immoral, dirty and ungodly, what do you think about those people mentioned above? Can we believe that today s generations are morally better and possessing better understanding of the divine law (concerning marriage)  than the previous prophets of God?

3) PROHIBITION OF PORK

He hath only forbidden you dead meat and blood and the flesh of swine and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of Allaah, but if one is forced by necessity without willful disobedience nor transgressing due limits then is he guiltless.  For Allaah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful. Qur aan (Al-Baqara) 2:173. In the Bible;   Leviticus 11:7-8 & Isaiah 66:17.

So many medical reasons assert that man should refrain from eating pork (swine). Ask the parasitologists concerning swine.

4) WOMEN’S ATTIRE

And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty …” Qur aan (An-Nur) 24:31.

“For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.” Bible-1Corinthians 11:5,6.

Using human minds of what the women should wear, the result is: women become the victims of nakedness, yet civilized nations shamelessly promote and encourage nakedness. Women are always abused and exploited in beauty contests, fashion shows, and advertisements.

5) WASHING BEFORE PRAYER

“… O ye who believe! When ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles …” Qur aan (Al-Maida) 5:6. In the Bible: And Moses (pbuh) and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat: When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the Lord commanded Moses. “ Exodus 40:31, 32.

6) Jesus Christ   was CALLING HIS GOD: ALLAAH

Behold! the disciples said: O Jesus the son of Mary! Can thy Lord send down to us a table set (with viands) from heaven?"  Said Jesus: "Fear Allaah if ye have faith."   Qur aan (Al-Maida) 5:`112.

Jesus Christ  cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli,Eli,lama sabachthani?  That is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Matthew 27:46 (Bible)

But in the Book according to Mark, Jesus Christ   said, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachtani? Which is interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Mark 15:34 . (Bible)

In the Middle-East, it is not history that the people ever called ELI OR ELOI  for God nor in any of the Semitic languages, but Allaah.

7) Jesus Christ— A MAN

And remember Jesus the son of Mary said: "O Children of Israel! I am the apostle (man) of  Allaah (sent) to you confirming the Law (which came) before me …” Qur aan (As-Saff) 61:6.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1Timothy 2:5.  Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of  God …” Acts 2:22 .  No-where in the Qur aan nor in the Bible has it been mentioned that Jesus Christ (pbuh) was God-incarnate nor to be worshipped.  He is a man, not God or Man-God.

8) PROSTRATION IN PRAYER

“O ye who believe! Bow down and prostrate yourselves and adore your Lord; and do good; that ye may prosper.” Qur’aan (Al-Hajj) 22:77.

King David said , "Praise the LORD your God." So they all praised the LORD, ; they bowed low and fell prostrate before the LORD and the king--1Chr 29:20 NIV   Jesus Christ (pbuh) going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, …” Mat 26:39 NIV (Bible).

9) FASTING

O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to

those before you that ye may (learn) self-restraint. Qur aan (Al-Baqara) 2:183.

David (pbuh) ,   (in the Bible, Psalm 109:24 NIV)  My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt.”

Moses (pbuh)   (in the Bible, Exo. 34:28 NIV)  was fasting: “forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant--the Ten Commandments.”

Jesus Christ (pbuh)    (in the Bible, Mat 4:2 NIV)  After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

Being a Muslim, my criterion is the Qur’aan, but since my Christian and Jewish  readers do not believe Islamic proofs, I have used the Old and New Testaments to show the similarities in the Qur’aan.

If our beloved reader does not need anymore of this leaflet, we highly appreciate him when he will share this to other. Surely Allaah will reward him greater than what he expects.
