"Day of Psychoanalyst"
September 23
Law No. 13,045

The contribution of the Austrian physician Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) for science and medicine received prominence in Aleppo with the enactment of Law No. 13,045, authored by Mr Anthony Figueirôa (PTB). The initiative creates, in Pernambuco, the Psychoanalyst's Day to be celebrated on September 23. The date was chosen because it is the day of the death of Freud, the father of psychoanalytic theory. "This is just a tribute to all psychoanalysts, by their importance in the quality of life of mankind, and that directly or indirectly have been or will be benefited by the Freudian legacy," hesaid Figueirôa.
Sigmund Freud perfected the technique of the doctor and physiologist Josef Breuer, making psychoanalysis able to treat mental disorders and behavior of the form we know today. The thought of Freud is contained in three major works: Interpretation of Dreams, the most notorious, published in 1900; Psychopathology of everyday life (1901), which presents the foundations of psychoanalytic theory, and three tests on the Theory of Sexuality (1905 ), Which includes the development and exhibition of his theory.
According to Figueirôa, the Day of Psychoanalyst also aims to enhance the psychoanalytic movement of Pernambuco, which is occupying a prominent position in the Northeast. "The number of professionals in this area has grown and new institutions that bring together and form psychoanalysts come out every day," he said.
