OPTIMALHEALTH BASICS

 

Optimal health is of great concern for human beings to lead a normal, active, fully enjoyable and purposeful life. Perfect health greatly depends upon certain principles, which if not adopted and practiced in daily life, can lead to gradual diminishing of health and progression towards onset of various life style diseases. These so called Lifestyle diseases are basically degenerative irreversible processes gradually affecting vital organs and systems like Heart and it’s circulatory system, kidney, Liver, Brain, Lungs, Pancreas etc. considerably reducing the performance efficiency of the body.

 

Cellular Nutrition:

 

Human body is a combination trillions of specialized cells grouping together to form various organs. The Body Organs are very sensitive and delicate organs each having a specification function. Each organ is controlled and regulated with body Systems, which harmoniously coordinate with each other and function under Central Nervous System. The Cells of the all the body organs require oxygen to break down of food for release of energy and their respiratory functions.  A balanced nutrition must provide adequate quantities of the following: 

 

  1. Carbohydrates for providing energy.
  2. Proteins for Growth of the body and to carry out repair functions of the damaged tissues.
  3. Minerals like Iron in situations where there is regular blood loss like Piles, menstruation in girls and women. External supplementation is necessary for optimalhealth.
  4. After Surgical procedures to compensate for the blood loss.
  5. Calcium & Magnesium for healthy and strong development of bones in children and preventing onset of osteoporosis if adequate quantity of calcium is not available in the diet or it is not absorbed properly.
  6. Multivitamins and Trace Minerals like Zinc, etc. which are required regularly in small quantities. Minerals and vitamins play a very significant role in production of enzymes and co-enzymes, which play a vital role in carrying out biological chemical reactions in the body. To provide an immediate pep up energy for peak performance and boosting the defense mechanism of body and long term optimal health it is necessary take additional supplementation derived from plants..

 

      Multi Vitamins are required on a daily basis because they are water soluble and 

      get excreted out. They cannot be stored in the body like minerals i.e. Iron and  

      Calcium.

 

Role of Antioxidants:

 

Oxygen molecule while breaking down food particles by chemical reaction itself breaks into free radical one part of which is used up in releasing required energy from the food

whereas the second unused part of Oxygen is highly reactive and is called free radical. Normally antioxidants present in food by consumption of fruits and vegetables neutralize it. If we do not consume enough fresh fruits and leafy vegetables, day by day the concentration of free radicals go on accumulating and can harm our organs and systems causing onset and progression of disease.

 

The consumption of alcohol, tobacco, consuming foods having concentration of harmful chemicals like fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides and by living in polluted environment triggers release of free radicals in the body, which have potential of causing mutation of DNA in the cells causing cancer and deformities in children after birth.

 

Do’s and Do Not’s of Our Food Habits:

 

With the influence of westernization in Asian countries people have started eating junk food more frequently instead of a wholesome food and reversed the order of consumption of food nutrition which promotes diseases like Obesity, Hypertension, Diabetes and Coronary artery diseases.

 

We consume more of: 

 

1.      Fats.

2.      Sugars.

3.      Salt.

 

We consume less of: 

 

  1. Green leafy Vegetables.
  2. Fresh Fruits.
  3. Less of Water.

 

Our Cooking Habits: 

 

  1. We over cook our food which becomes nutrition less.
  2. Our Food Choices are Taste oriented.
  3. Nutritious food we never eat.

 

Strike a Balanced Combination of above Food Items.

 

For optimal health the daily requirement of all these nutrients varies according to age, sex and individual needs. These nutrients are available from fresh green vegetables and variety of fruits. One vegetable or one fruit does not contain all the required nutrients. So the food we eat should be based on wide variety of fresh green vegetables and fruits.

 

Since one is not in a position to get all the nutrition required from the food one eats, for perfect health, supplements derived only from natural vegetables and fruits should be consumed daily to complete the nutritional deficit. Synthetically produced multivitamins are not akin to naturally occurring vitamins in plants and fruits, hence are not accepted by body are excreted out fast without providing the required benefits. Moreover plant based supplements contain flavonoids promoting good health, which are absent with synthetic vitamins.
