Park Guell 

Park Guell is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Barcelona. Antoni Gaudi has designed a place where people can just relax and enjoy the beauty of art and nature together.

The park is like a garden complex with various architectural elements, starting with different style monuments and finishing with outstanding buildings. The park was built during the years 1900 – 1914 and is situated on the hill called el Carmel in the Gracia district of Barcelona.

At the entrance you can first see the colourful dragon fountain in front of the stairs which lead up to the park. The entrance itself is truly amazing masterpiece that invites visitors do discover other parts of the Park Guell.

Gaudi was strongly influenced by natural shapes therefore he used it in his work too. For example there is a pathway that is supported by twisted rock pillars, which seem just like growing out of the ground like trees. Also walking through it, gives you a feeling of being inside cave.

At the top of the park is terraced area where you have stunning view over the park and BarcelonaCity. Locals use it often as meeting place. You can find different multicoloured mosaic seats on where to rest your feet, and which are definitely worth of seeing. Next to the terrace area is a big square which is also popular place for organising different cultural events.

The most famous building in Park Guell is a small house, called ¨la Torre Rosa¨, where Gaudi himself lived at one stage of his life. Now the house has been converted to museum where you can admire Gaudi´s designed furniture. When entering to the park is free, then for visiting la Torre Rosa you would have to pay some entrance fee.

The easiest way to get to the park is to go by metro. It’s on green line (L3), and the stop is Lesseps. After getting out from the metro station, it’s just matter of following the street signs leading to the park. The opening hours are from 10.00 to 19.00 but during Christmas and New Year’s period it might vary.
