Actonel: The End of Paget ’s Disease 

Risedronate sodium is an active ingredient of Actonel. Paget’s disease of the bone can be treated by using Actonel. It is also used to prevent and treat diseases such as postmenopausal osteoporosis and glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis. However, it is important to point out that Actonel is not for everyone; you should not take it if the calcium levels in your body are low, if your health care provider has not treated bone or mineral problems that you have experienced, if your kidneys have serious problems and if you are not capable of standing or sitting for a minimum of 30 minutes.

When having a bone-imaging test, you need to let your doctor know that you are taking Actonel, this is important because it will interfere with the test. You need to inform your doctor in case you have propensity to suffer stomach problems because Actonel causes inflammation in the esophagus, stomach ulcer, esophageal ulcer and difficulties to swallow.

The tablets of Actonel are made for oral administration. Each tablet contains 5, 30 or 35 mg of risedronate sodium with monohydrate in small amounts. The prescription label of Actonel contains directions that need to be followed. Risedronate can be taken daily or once a week.
