Anexsia (Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone): Narcotic Analgesic
Anexsia is a medication composed of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is a drug of the group called narcotic analgesics which helps relieve pain. On the other hand, acetaminophen is a pain reliever but not as potent as hydrocodone. Nevertheless, when these two drugs work together, they become an effective pain reliever. Anexsia can be also used to treat other problems, but if you need to do that, you have to ask your doctor before.
Normally, acetaminophen is not prescribed with a determinate dosage, but in this case, it is mixed with hydrocodone. That is why it is better if you ask your doctor for a schedule to take it. In case you do not understand the instructions to administer it, ask your doctor too. Remember that it is always better to ask instead of getting sicker.
Anexsia could present some secondary effects as many other medicines. Some of the side effects you could suffer due to this drug are allergic reaction, seizures, colds, decreased urination, weakness, dizziness, yellowing of the skin, vomiting, muscle twitches, decreased appetite and others. However, as you know, all medications have side effects, and Anexsia is not the exception.
Another important aspect is that if you are planning to take acetaminophen, you must tell your doctor if you are allergic, pregnant or planning to. You must make sure your doctor know certain special conditions like the ones mentioned above before he/she prescribes this drug for you. If you have any other doubt about this medication, contact your doctor or pharmacist and ask her/him about it.
