Propecia is an FDA-approved drug whose active ingredient is
finasteride. The synthetic 4-azasteroid compound is marketed by Merck & Co.,
Inc. as treatment for hair loss in men. According to different controlled
clinical trials, it is clear that Propecia is responsible for serious side
effects like erectile dysfunction, low libido, decreased sperm count, sometimes
permanently. These side effects are basically from the fact that the drug
converts androgen testosterone into DHT or 5a-dihydrotestosterone. The drug has
also been shown to contribute to insomnia, anxiety, depression, breast
enlargement and tenderness, and a rash. Lawsuits allege Merck & Co., Inc.
sold and marketed Propecia as an effective and safe drug for hair loss
treatment, for failing to warn men of dangerous and unreasonable side effects,
especially sexual side effects, some of which are permanent, for failing to use
ordinary care in the designing, the testing, and the manufacturing of Propecia,
and for failing to exercise due care in the advertising and the promotion of the
drug.
You could sue Merck & Co., Inc. through class action lawsuits if they are
formed or through individual lawsuits. Filing class action lawsuits is
advantageous in that you get the best possible representation, it offers
unparalleled convenience, and you do not need to pay the lawyers before the case
is won or if the case is lost. There are many lawyers who specialize in class
action lawsuits, but you should not go for the first lawyer you come across.
There are several considerations that should guide your choice.
When choosing between lawyers for class action lawsuits against Merck &
Co., Inc., consider their credibility and reliability. You could determine
credibility by checking for registration with the local bar and by checking with
consumer protection agencies for complaints. You could determine the reliability
of lawyers for class action lawsuits by reading independent reviews, by getting
recommendations from those you trust, by looking at past success in similar
cases, and by observing the lawyer in trial before your case.
When choosing between lawyers for class action lawsuits against Merck &
Co., Inc., consider their people skills. Skills such as communication and
negotiation skills are important because many class action lawsuits against
pharmaceutical giants are settled out of court. These skills are also important
in the course of the trial (during cross examination). You should consider the
cost of the services being offered by lawyers for class action lawsuits. Note
that this could be as high as 40% of the settlement with some lawyers. However,
do not let cost considerations blind you from making other important
considerations. Note that although it is said cheap is expensive, expensive does
not always mean better. You should therefore ‘shop around’ to increase your
chances of getting a good lawyer for a low price.
