“Good time to get in the driving seat of your career”

The Minister of Employment Chris Grayling speaking in the Mirror newspaper has claimed that this is a “good time to get in the driving seat of your career with thousands of [driving] jobs currently available, reports leading provider of HGV training HGV Express (http://www.hgvexpress.co.uk/).

The Mirror newspaper, as part of their Get Britain Working campaign, has found nearly 25,000 driving jobs currently available as the transport industry continues to show “glimmers of improvement”. In a focus piece on driving jobs featured in the Mirror earlier this month, the paper found that “from drivers of HGV vehicles and vans to cranes and fork-lift trucks, people with the right skills are in high demand”.

Truck driver training has become an increasingly popular way for people to change career, in part due to this high demand for qualified HGV drivers. According to Dr Mick Jackson from the freight logistics sector skills council Skills for Logistics, speaking in the Mirror, “Demand for HGV drivers rose slightly in February, which is unusual as there is normally a decline in the early part of the year after December increases...Year on year vacancies also continue to rise and are currently at levels last seen back in 2008...This is hopefully a continued sign of the economy coming out of recession. Drivers are skilled workers who are crucial to the freight logistics industry and it is essential that both the sector and the UK economy have an adequate supply of these ¬essential operatives.”

According to the piece in the Mirror, experienced LGV and HGV drivers “can earn £15,000 to £30,000 a year. Drivers of fuel and chemical tankers need special training and can earn up to £35,000 a year”. It also states that experts believe the secret behind securing lorry driving jobs after carrying out thelorry driver training is to move quickly both when a job or a training position is advertised. Truck school HGV Express helps its customers not only enter into their training courses and become fully qualified as soon as possible, but also assists them when it comes to finding the first of these many jobs that are currently available – the right job for them.
